Most bridal boutiques only carry a handful of dresses from each particular designer they offer. However, a few times a year, a designer will send their entire seasonal collection to showcase in store. These are called "Trunk Shows". They were coined this because many moons ago, the dresses would arrive to the store in trunks. We get them delivered to us a day before the show starts and when the show ends, we ship them off to the next store, which could be anywhere in the US.
Your appointment would be just as it would any other time, except you'll have a much larger selection of dresses to choose from. Because appointments fill up fast during trunk shows, you'll want to follow these tips to prepare:
Begin by browsing the designer websites to get a sense of which styles appeal to you and fall within your budget. We have multiple designers and each have their own particular look.
Trunk shows are by appointment only and fill up fast. So don't wait to reserve your slot (and if you can't keep the appointment, please be courteous and call to cancel.)
Bring one or two people with you whom you trust and who know you well. Resist the urge to have a larger entourage accompany you—too many opinions can get confusing for the bride and sometimes complicates the appointment.
Be prepared to make a purchase in case you find "the dress" in order to take advantage of show discounts. These are traveling dresses that you may not have a chance to try on again. But don't feel pressured to make a decision if you aren't 100% convinced.
Accessories are usually discounted as well, so it's a great time to complete your wedding day look.
