Aubrey Rettig

I’ve always had a flair for dressing up and pretty things, so owning a bridal boutique seemed a natural progression from my previous career. I was working as a Litigation Paralegal for several years when I had a dream I opened a bridal boutique. It was hard to resist not making that dream come true; I mentioned it to my husband, we agreed it would be good idea and put the wheels in motion. We opened our doors in August of 2011 in a small strip mall in Valparaiso, before moving to our current home in Chesterton, two years later. Anyone who has owned a small business can likely agree, it’s a very personal attachment. I love my store and care about each and every bride I encounter. I may even surprise past brides when I remember their name years later and even the dress they wore on their special day. I’m proud of my amazing staff and their hard work and passion for what they do, it’s truly a dream job. When I’m not managing the store, I’m home with my husband, my daughters, 13 and 15, and two big dog babies. I love spending time with family, traveling, a long run or a true crime or Netflix binge.

I've been working at HCTD for five years now, but first I was a customer. I visited the boutique with a friend who found her dress at the boutique and I instantly fell in love with the ambiance. As soon as I got home that evening, I, of course, stalked Facebook looking at all the beautiful bridal pictures and posts and came across a job posting. It almost felt meant to be. I instantly applied and had the job within a few days! Before HCTD, I worked as a Legal Assistant Clerk in a downtown law firm, which is why I think Aubrey and I connect so well; we both love organization and analyzing every little detail. Switching careers is one of the best things I have ever done because I truly consider this my dream job! I love the ornate gowns, helping future brides find their dream dress and sharing a special moment with not only them, but their closest family and friends, it is such a fulfilling feeling to bring their visions to life. I always strive to make everyone who walks through our doors feel special. When I'm not working, I'm a mom of two little ones, who keep me busy and a wife of a hardworking husband.

Taylor Emery

Hello my name is Taylor, I joined the Here Comes The Dress team in April of 2022. I’m also a HCTD bride!! My life revolves around my two dogs and my husband. I love seeing my brides find their dream dress! I make it my personal mission to find the perfect dress for you.
Fun facts: I’ve recently been certified in dog training, spend time drag racing with my family, & love going on adventures.
Alarie Hammock
Seamstress, Chesterton
Growing up I always loved dressing for a moment. Whether it was recitals, dances, or just making a day feel special, it was always about wearing something unique. I spent my first years out of college as a designer and seamstress for theater in Chicago. It was during that time I learned the importance of silhouette, fit and foundation. I learned that what I loved the most was one-on-one. The time that I was making someone feel amazing, comfortable, and stunning for their big moment. In moving to the Chesterton area I began looking at bridal shops and fell in love with HCTD. THe gowns were so unique, the shop was so inviting and the brides looked so happy! In following them on social media I came across a job posting and applied immediately. I was lucky enough to become a part of the wonderful team here at HCTD where they really have a focus and care for each and every one of their brides. When I am not at HCTD I enjoy drawing, sewing and drinking coffee with my husband and two dogs.
Betty Whiting
Seamstress, Chesterton
Betty is our resident alteration magician! There isn't much this woman can't do when it comes to your wedding dress. Betty began sewing as a child and is a retired Home Economics teacher. When Betty isn't making dreams come true in store, she's traveling the world with her husband!
Customize necklines, add sleeves, merge two dresses in one, over the last 8 years with HCTD, Betty has literally done it all. Our brides rave about her and you'll love her too!
